Technological Convergence:
Building Blocks of the Modern Phone
Technological convergence describes the phenomena where previously unrelated technologies are brought together and unified into a single device. A branding excercise that of a physical exhibtion/installation that explores the concept past technologies as the vital building blocks of modern technology.
Techniques: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator
Logo system
My logo is based off the concept of a very simplified visual representation of convergence. With a large component flowing into a smaller compact component, the visual idea of convergence is subtly communicated. This simple shape is very flexible to create various versions and arrangements with the text logo.
Color Palette
The color palette is built around a primary selection of a strong vintage blue based off the colors of HTML hyperlinks of the early internet. It is paired with secondary colors of pure white, an exciting green meant to be a reference to the green backed screens of vintage tech.
Graphic System
Thee distinct hero images were chosen, all specific items off the curatorial list of the exhibit. These images were chosen for being recognzable but sparking intrigue and displaying a vintage flair that is a key point of the exhibiton. These hero images were paired up with their own colors of the color palette, so every piece of media with a hero image featured will have its corresponding color heavily featured alongside.
The basis of the visual design of the exhibition is connected block style graphics based loosely off the logo and is flexible in its application across various forms of graphic media for the exhibition.
Posters
The goal for the posters was to spark interest in the hero images and communicate the idea of vintage tech on a modern background to draw in viewers.
Exhibition Handouts
Pamphlet style handouts containing the key branding imagery and colors with all the relevant exhibition information and guiding the visitors on the
Social Media
I also applied the design style to promote the exhibit and events housed in the exhibit for social media promotion on sites like Instagram and Facebook.
